Pre Thanksgiving Fun

I'm sitting on the couch after having cleaned the house and walked a total of 36 blocks to pick up our family's pecan pie from Dangerously Delicious Pies on H Street NE. The closest metro stop is Union Station and if you know me, you know very well that I do not drive except in case of emergency. So I figured I could skip the gym today. At the restaurant, Massimo and the rest of the staff enjoyed turkey, jalapeno stuffing, guacamole and I'm sure a host of other Salvadorean treats. It's slow tonight over there but oddly he does have a kitchen table.

I am watching Uncle Buck and it reminded me of the time Amy Madigan came into the restaurant with a group of women for dinner while I was hostessing there. As soon as the actress walked in the door, I dialed up my sister and shouted excitedly, "Shanice Kobaloski (sp?) is here!" She knew exactly what I meant, a testament to our childhood movie-watching habits. When she left I couldn't help myself, blurting out "I loved you in Uncle Buck!" One of her posse glared me down and grumbled, "She was in Field of Dreams too ya know! It was an Academy Award-nominated film!"

Never seen it.
